I first started djing around about 12 years ago when i was 17. It was by chance i knew a dj in a bar and one week he asked me if i could do his set for him as he couldnt make it and gave me a brief lesson on what to do and from there i was hooked. I started getting sets playing hip hop and garage in Doncaster and sheffield and then discovered speed garage in 2001 and then started playing that. During that time myself and 2 others started a label called Gridlockd Records which became one of the biggest labels in the scene in a very short time as we were the only label making original tracks. Fast forward 12 years and in that time i played the first bassline set on bbc 1xtra, put together a compilation for ministry of sound (Maximum bass 2007) And had tracks signed to mos and all around the world (Universal). I decided in 2008 that i wasnt gonna pidgeonhole myself to one genre and went self employed as a dj and tutor. Around that time i got my own show on local legal radio station sine fm and my weekend vibes show did so well they moved me from 2-3 sat afternoon to 6-8 saturday night the show before dj legend graeme park. Nowadays i do a show called the history of Dance music on sine fm 102.6fm in Doncaster or www.sinefm.com worldwide every tuesday evening 8pm-10pm.

I got into electronic music right after High School. (Honestly truth be told I have always been into it when you include groups like NIN and Gravity Kills, to name a few, but I didn't find dance music until post High School)... I went to my first club in 1999, and saw DJ Monk (co-founder of the group Rabbit in the Moon). And he was just too wicked, mixing records, scratching, adding effects, I watched him and watched him, he never stopped moving, he was always doing something tweaking this, adding that. It was an awesome show to watch and hear. I heard and saw all this and I was hooked. I knew I wanted to spin right away, and I had dreams as high as the sky, imagining seeing the world, and meeting new people, and playing in venues in places I never even knew existed. That never happened, but I'm okay with that, I played some open decks and did a few house parties, but mostly I just did what I did, because I enjoyed doing it. When someone asks me for a hero Monk is still the first name that pops into my mind, he introduced me to one of my biggest passions, all thanks to one night all those years ago. I went out bought a Numark all in one package, not long after I had been consumed by the scene and used it awhile until I realized what crap I had, belt drive tables and mixer with a crossfader that jumped in and out as I was mixing. I eventually replaced all that with the setup I currently have which is a pair of Stanton STR8-100's and a Denon DN-X800, later on; I also purchased a Denon DN-F2600 dual disc CD player, which have recently been replaced with a pair of Stanton c.314's. I use Ortofon Concorde Elektro needles and Denon HD-1000 headphones, and I couldn't be more pleased with my setup. I bought the STR8-100's when they very first came out, and the reason I did was because I had become very attached to the key correction function of the CD player, and I thought it would be awesome to have it on my tables too. Unfortunately the key correction on the model I got never really worked all that well, it creates this funny reverb effect. It is so overpowering it is difficult to tell which beat was the real one, and it makes it hard to mix, so I never use it. However, in my opinion the motors are at very least very comparable to 1200's, so I have never really had the desire to replace them. Except for maybe with one of the new model 150's, only because I hear they finally got the key correction to function properly, the 150’s are supposed to have even more torque, but like I said before, the torque on mine is fine. I don’t scratch so super high torque tables are not a necessity for me, so I will run with my 100’s until they die. All of that is really moot anyway, while I still have my tables and can still use them, I rarely do. Most of the time I use my digital setup, which consists of a Denon MC6000, a pair of Kontrol F1s, Maschine, a Kaoss Pad Quad, and Traktor. I enjoy a very wide range of music, and if you listen to my sets, you'll rarely hear me play an entire set of single genre, most of the time it is three or four different genres. And what I enjoy most with the digital setup, is that I have so much more music at my disposal, and it is a lot more accessible that trying to thumb through a thousand records. My style of mixing has evolved a great deal since switching to digital as well, so much so that I don't enjoy traditional mixing as much anymore either, I use a lot of cue points and loops in my mixes, and you can't do that with vinyl. I suppose you could with Traktor Scratch and set of Dicers, but I don't really see the point considering that that I don’t scratch, nor do I have any real desire to. It doesn't really fit what I do.Life moves quickly, and life had more responsibilities than my teenage dreams allowed for, and I wound up settling down. I got married and had a couple of kids and mixing kind of took a backseat for a few years... …Fast forward to a few years ago, I got my hands on an iPod and started jamming out to my tunes again, because it was all so easily accessible, which in turn made want to mix again, but I still rarely found the time to do it. Until I got my hands on a copy of Virtual DJ, and I got all pumped up. I started recording mixes. I was rejuvenated all over again. Not that I really have aspirations for a worldwide tour anymore, but simple act of blending one track into another was as exciting as it was the first time I did it, and I was having a lot of fun doing it. So, I kept at it, and made some new like minded friends. I got picked up on Gremlin Radio a few months after I started mixing again, and I have been there ever since. I love it; we have a very cool group of people contributing to the station. I've been there since 2011, and don't plan on going anywhere. I was recently made an administrator for the station as well, my main role is to set up their streams when they join the station, but I also look for new DJs to join our ranks amongst other things as well. So if you interested send me a PM, or find me on Facebook or something, just find a way to get me your demo. I'm always scouting for new talent to join our collaborative. Currently we have around 40 DJ’s in the fold, but we are looking to have live DJs 24/7. Anyhow, I can ramble on and on, but in the end we are all here for the same reason, we love music... Take a listen to my sets, and let me know what you think, good or bad. All comments will be greatly appreciated.. Thanks for stopping by and checking me out and I hope you enjoy what you hear... >>> Peace.Love.Unity.Respect <<<

I use Pioneer 1000 cdjs for live perfomances. I also use a Numark mixer on my laptop, and I record mixes and sometimes play live performances with Virtual DJ www.myspace.com/djmixinvixen Started djing in February 2008, as a double act with my friend known as the ;Mixin' Vixens. Then progressed onto solo djing by the name of VIXEN. My first set was in Club Remix, Hitchin, Hertfordshire (outside london) alongside DJ's Youth Attack (Leeds), Ash Verschuur (London) and ;Thick as Thieves (London). I then got regular slots at remix for big promo nights and dj'd alongside successful bands and djs, a few including Partyshank (A1 Bassline), Data.select.party, glamour for better (mtv2) and more. I was also a contender for resident club NME dj, every Thursday at club Remix. Since moving to Southampton to study at uni, i have played at Southampton's club Rhino, and been involved in promotion for Mono Lounge, 90 degrees bar, and Southampton's biggest electro mash up night, Bang Bang at Junk club - showcasing people such as Frankmusik, Micky Slim, Kissy Sell Out, Axwell and Caspa and Rusko. Always looking for new and exciting venues to play. Cheers for reading Sarah mstrkrft, deadmau5, Soulwax, jack beats, laidback luke, crookers, villains, foamo, mowgli, andy george, jaymo, kissy sell out, brodinski, daft punk, simian mobile disco, fake blood, mr oizo, sinden, doorly, calvin harris, chase and status, riton, digitalism, tiga, e.r.o.l, herve, dave spoon

A-Viz: drummer for Austin based Black Metal band Humut Tabal, general Bassline/4x4 tastemaker, admirer and critque, aspiring English professor of Literature. Also interested in Liquid and Jungle, as well as downhome duhty dubs (Whiddla, L-Wiz, Others, etc.). Always down to schmooze it up! Recently I've picked up the old writing bug again and I've decided to incorporate it into my music tastes. So, producers and DJ's, if you want a review of a mix or an original work, more organization to your biography or mix descriptions, anything you can think of, give me a shout and I'd love to do the work for you so you can spend more time at the decks ;) Taking inquiries here or via email, facebook, all that good jazz. Concerning reviews: There exist, unfortunately, a few genres that are either incredibly obscure or not at all to my liking and thus would not serve as effective review material. However, I always keep an open mind so I'm taking whatever you want to submit. Previous works can of course be requested to gaze over and decide if you'd like me to write for you. All the best, prohst!

A veteran of the New England dance scene Mike Manson has been playing in New England for nearly 15 years. Starting out in the rave scene in early 1996 and continuing to become one of the residents of the legendary Municipal Cafe. Mike was a resident for 6 years playing every Friday night and his selection of music had refined into a style all his own. Many opportunities arose from this residence and teaming up with Spiritual Emporium, Muck Crew, and Columns of Knowledge as a promoter and a DJ earlier on helped his DJ career move forward. Once established as a professional DJ in New England his adventure into the club scene began. Playing at night clubs and commercial events such as Sunset Session by Room 960, The Ware House, Koji Yakatori, Bocca Rossa, Sullys Pub, Club Therapy, and Room 960. A six month residence with Koji hosting an event called “ I <3 Koji “ and playing top dance tracks every Friday Night. His current residence for Bocca Rossa hosting an event called “ Go Deep “ and " Ibiza Lounge " playing every Friday and Saturday Night. Although Mike has been DJing for so long he is still learning from each show and that can be seen by the technologies he has begun to utilize and how threcreativity in the music he plays now is effected. Converting to Traktor Scratch Pro and utilizing Native Instruments Kontrol X1 and Maschine to bring his creativity to new heights. With the digital age of DJing in full swing Mike has made sure to keep with the times and trends of his craft. Specializing in House, Tech House, and Minimal House He's sure to bring a great vibe to any show he's involved in.
